  1. Religious ideology is what led to nation building. It was literally their crusade. There's one huge truth hidden from US voters about the two party system, and that is about the banking establishment, and the money used in the US. That was what created and separated the two parties until 1900, where the Democrats wanted gold backed currency, or to use gold specie, which is why Jackson did what he did, as the Republicans (Whigs) wanted the opposite. By 1900, it became a fight between the Rockefeller and Morgan interests in the two parties, where progressivism overtook the two. They got their central bank, and finally, unbacked currency.
