Hall isn't as credible as he seems in his early works. He was a Rosicrucian, but was not a Freemason when he wrote Lost Keys. After he became one, years later, he apologized for what he insinuated in the text. Saying this, what he was accurate about in ancient writings, he used terminology that many totally misunderstand the meaning of. One example is the word, lucifer, which many today, especially the religious, have completely mis-defined.
Saying this, initiation by fire is a sexual act, mainly by the Greeks and Romans in their rites. Think pederasty.
