  3.  @CynicalBastard  The European elite (nobles/power elite) and the church have been wanting their old Holy Roman empire back since they started losing control of it in the 17th century with republicanism. That is why everything that concerns the EU is in Belgium, the seat of Pepin of Herstal, Charlemagne's great-grandfather. Federalism, which is what the US Govt was based upon, is the Roman form of government, and that was a plutocracy. The same goes for the City of London or old Londinium, and they financed the American Revolution. They supposedly reminded George III of that, to "the point of treason." Charlemagne was crowned "Emperor of the Romans" by Pope Leo III on Christmas Day at Rome's Old St. Peter's Basilica... [and] has been called the "Father of Europe" (Pater Europae), as he united most of Western Europe for the first time since the classical era of the Roman Empire and united parts of Europe that had never been under Frankish or Roman rule. His rule spurred the Carolingian Renaissance, a period of energetic cultural and intellectual activity within the Western Church. Emperors of the Holy Roman Empire considered themselves successors of Charlemagne, as did the French and German monarchs." The Carolingians want their rule back, just as the church and monarchial state led colonialism against the heathen New World. By authority of the monarchs, the monopoly companies took the new lands. During the talks in 1814, Britain, Austria, Prussia, and Russia spoke of stomping out republicanism and retaking control. France was there but only in attendance. Britain, supposedly, didn't fully side with them and protected North America with its navy. Later, during the presidency of McKinley, some in the US thought about merging the nation with Russia, creating a super-state, and Britain couldn't have that. McKinley was murdered. The Anglo-American Establishment originates afterward, and that is the progressive federalist movement. Both governments were behind the creation of the UN and EU, as well as the Atlantic Council. Colonialism and imperialism writ large.
