There is a denial in the scientific community that there was an advanced people during those times, which not only were in the Middle East, the Indus River Valley, and the South China plain, but also made their way, eventually, to Peru. With them came the knowledge of megalithic construction. Who they were, nobody can rightly say. However, the old Mesopotamian tale was that the "fish people" gave them the knowledge to start their civilizations, which would have been mud bricks, and the creation of the ziggurat. I believe that this referred to those that arrived by sea from somewhere unknown. These ziggurats and megaliths can be found across the globe, and they predate the newest pyramids in Cairo. The earliest Egyptian pyramids were ziggurats.
