Barry Goldwater warned of quotas years ago, which was why he voted against the Civil Rights Act, besides states rights. Quotas work against merit, so that corporations can claim that they are diverse. Now, the left has came out with "cognitive privilege," I kid you not. In other words, those whom are smarter than others, are privileged, and are oppressing the dullards of society. So, those who have a greater cognitive potential, and are smarter, must be dumbed down.

Kaysha-Leigh McBurnie: This is what Barry Goldwater warned of, when he voted against the Civil Rights Act, written as it was. He stated that it would require quotas, which it did, though the left will vehemently deny it. Many on the left, are demanding that more minorities be hired, irregardless of skill and education, over those that are more qualified. There's also something new that the left has came out with, another class struggle, called cognitive privilege, whereby those who have higher IQs, or more knowledge, should not be hired over those with less.

Christopher Michaud: Barry Goldwater was for a Civil Rights Bill, if it didn't promote quotas, which it did, and take away states rights, so they couldn't hire based on merit. After Johnson's bill passed, quotas was indeed set, especially by the government, and many people who were qualified for a job, based on merit, were passed over for those who weren't qualified, based on race. Affirmative Action has caused professors to passed over for tenure in college, because of quotas based on race, even though the one who was passed over was more qualified. Thus, the law is not equally applied, and violates equal protection. The Equal Protection Clause is part of the 14th Amendment. The clause provides that no state shall deny to any person within its jurisdiction "the equal protection of the laws."
"All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws."
Thus, quotas and Affirmative Action can be said to be unconstitutional, because of hiring based on race instead of merit.
