  1. The reason for all the ads and the swill being printed in most papers, is over a very few large news agencies buying up all the printed media. The Gannett Co. is one of the largest, and they own a multitude of papers across the US (USA Today is one). They are ad driven. They do the same thing that CNN does, and base what they write, (fake news opinion pieces), to generate revenue. It all has to do with ratings, but they're cutting their own throats. What helped to sink the NYT, was the purchase of 17% of the stock by Carlos Slim, and he has the controlling interest. The board directs the editors on what muck to write. Everyone's strings are pulled by Slim and Sulzberger. They'll be shutting down their remaining few floors now.
