  1. Today's right holds many of the same values of the pre-1952 Old Guard or Old Right (1910-1952). That was when the party booted out the Progressives, took an anti-war stance, and tried to allow business to run itself. They opposed FDR and the socialists, and they tried to adopt many of the old Jeffersonian principles that Randolph supported before and during Jackson. I would say that the phoenix has risen again, and would not call today's right the New Right.
