Dagon is my favorite, as this makes Christian scholars squirm. Ask them about what those funky mitres represent.
.
You'll find the most ancient religion about 1,215 miles north-northeast of Göbekli Tepe, with the mound builders around Samara, and just a tad north of it, before the forks of the Volga. It may have been the religion and civilization that led to Göbekli Tepe being built, as they spread into the land of Anatolia at about the same time as they did into Persia and Mesopotamia. With them came both language and the first civilization, as well as gold. Of course, all the mountain cave dwellers came out onto the plains, to begin farming and herding, and that made them all related eventually. This is the Kurgan hypothesis, which the DNA seems to support. The ancient tale about Polyphemus' bloodline seems to be true.
.
The Cyclopean history went from mountains to mounds in the plains, then, to mud brick ziggurats, and from that to stone pyramids and ziggurats, as well as the large earthen pyramids of China. If you notice, for whatever reason, they covered up Göbekli Tepe with a mound. It was as if this was an early civilization or outpost that died out, or they left.
.
Knowing this, one must ask how old some the mounds really are within the Americas, as this is from the same religious burial influence.

@Dutchman Dagon is the root of the fish, and it's ties to early Christianity and Christ. It was a very prominent cult of the ruling elite at one time. The Roman church absorbed many of these pagan religious beliefs and symbols so the pagan's would accept it. Before Constantine, there were many varied beliefs, including some that originate in Alexandria Egypt. The western mitre represents a fish's head, with an open mouth, and it's roots lie with Dagon's fish religion in Palestine. The mitre represents the crown and headdress of temporal authority of bishops; the ruling class. It's not spiritual. Under Constantine, the church went on a scroll burning campaign to hide it all.
.
The eastern mitre represents the elongated head people of the ancient ruling elite, and their headdress. It represents a tall bulbous crown. It was fashioned after the Imperial crown of the late Byzantine Empire. Thus, there are differing beliefs between the Roman and Byzantine churches, still today.
.
It is known that many pagan beliefs within the Levant were intermixed with early Christianity, especially with the people around the lower end of the River Jordan, where it meets the Dead Sea. There was a reason that the Roman church tried to destroy this history, which was later revealed, again, with the Dead Sea Scrolls. There is a lot of pagan influence within Christianity, from several ancient religions, including the most ancient.
