@Seahawksl1969 Yes, I remember a few that were grown in vacant lots, and of course, they were quickly shown on the news (community activism). There were fights, though, about the owner of the lot, especially after it was sold, and someone wanted to redevelop it. These were generally in the old slum areas back in the 70s.
They pointed at this in the movie: Joe's Apartment.
I, personally, see nothing wrong with communal gardens, and cities could alot some land for this purpose, if they would.
Also, as Styx mentioned, get rid of the restrictions in some areas, about what one can do with their back lot, which they own, and pay taxes on.
