  6.  @Fredjoe5  The problem is, that after 1900, Federalism and radical leftist thought had infected both parties under the guise of "progressivism." It didn't matter who one voted for after that, though the Old Right did try to keep them out of the GOP after 1910-12,, and by the 1952 election, they were controlling both, especially when the Trotskyite New York Intellectuals came in with the Rockefeller Republicans and Nixon, and created the Neocons.

  7.  @Fredjoe5  The problem has always been Congress, from the time of the Civil War, where they've slowly passed new legislation that created new agencies, which usurped power from the states. Even the 14th Amendment was obtained by unscrupulous means by the Radical Republicans. Worse, the states have allowed them to do it, which would have the "Old Republicans" rolling in their graves. This is Federalism at work, and now, we're paying the price. In 2016, I used to end comments by stating "follow the owl." The owl was the symbol of Clay's Whig Party, which was the old Federalists that had risen again under Clay. They were those that Rep. Randolph of Roanoke, the leader of the Old Republicans, warned about, and they became Lincoln's party. Now you know why a huge concrete owl exists in a giant sequoia forest just outside San Francisco, where all the elite escapes for three weeks per year. The wealthiest CEOs, the press, and the politicos have a ball there.
