  1. Basically, what was behind this was industrial espionage. They tried to steal an electrolyte formula, which was purposely fake over a sting, or they didn't retrieve the full process in making it. Thus, the cap manufacturers using this stolen info made a lot of bad caps. Plus, some companies tried to counterfeit brands, such as Nichicon, and sell them on the market. Dell computers was hit hard by this scandal.
