A good lesson on historians is how they've practically deified Abraham Lincoln during and after the Civil War in the US, when, in fact, he was quite the tyrant, didn't intend on freeing the slaves, and was in the pockets of the major railroads, which he represented as an attorney before he became president. There was a huge myth created about him to where they built the Lincoln Memorial to help push the myth of an "Honest Abe" along.
