Their big problem is, that they have overplayed their "right-wing extremists" card, just as they have their race and gender cards. Now, nobody in their right mind believes them. The author of the article: "Cynthia Miller-Idriss is a sociologist and professor in the School of Public Affairs and in the School of Education, and runs the Polarization and Extremism Research & Innovation Lab (PERIL)."
