If they weren't in the "amusement" business, they were in textile and garments. The founders made millions during prohibition and afterwards from the "amusements," which has a multi-category definition.

  2. Says much about Hollywood, doesn't it? Research the people that migrated into LA from Chicago and Brooklyn to form Hollywood. No native Californian wanted them there, nor would they associate with them. That was why those in the "amusement" business had to build their own clubs, and give themselves awards, since nobody else would do it.
