  1. Most all the Middle Eastern nations leaned toward, or colluded with, the old Soviet Union, which is why there were wars there. The Baath Party was a socialist party, and Saddam was cozy with Moscow. The PLO was too. Look at how these nations are siding with the Far East, today. After WWII, the US and UK had their hands full trying to prevent the Soviets from taking over the Middle East. It's what led to all the proxy wars and boots on the ground. The same thing occurred in the African and Central and South American nations. All of it was to stop the Soviet and Asian long marches. In reality, the US is still supposed to be following NSC 5501 from 1955, which laid out the US and allied plans to stop their advance.
