It is true that this is how ignorant some people are in the west. If they want a real shocker about history, and about how everything came to be, then I would recommend an old recorded set of lectures by Carroll Quigley Ph.D. at Georgetown U. titled: "Public Authority and the State in the Western Tradition: A Thousand Years of Growth, A.D. 976 - 1976." One can find the full recording here, and the transcript on his website. He taught world history to several US politicos, and it might take that to give a kick to the seat of the pants of the dunces of today, as they'll be surprised at how religion has everything to do with all government from its beginnings. They won't change the T government over their culture's religion, as it has been that way from the start.

@rolfjohansen5376 We can blame the Protestant Dissenters for that, who originated in Europe. It was they who created the "heresy," and that, in turn, changed the politics of the revolutionary nations: the UK, the US, and France. They brought us liberalism and left-wing ideology. What many don't realize is that the politics of all three nations, which spread throughout the West, and through the British Empire, are all left-wing, which has a left and right inside that, and each is peculiar to that nation, over the differing revolutions. The US, as an example, was settled by English Dissenter Brownists who wanted to live communally, and much of this can be traced back to the old Diggers and Levellers when the commons were enclosed. A branch of this grew into Communism, as the Jewish community has it within as well with the Hasidic community. The truth is, all western government is based upon religion, even after the revolutions, and the same goes for the nations in the east.
