There are still many, especially in the New England area, New York, and Pennsylvania, as well as on the West Coast, that still cling to the old ideologies of the Puritans, Unitarians, and especially, the Quakers, which is why they shun American culture, industry, capitalism, and the ownership of property. Really, they're just the old Diggers still believing in things like quietism and pacifism while denouncing the nation and its culture that gave them the standard of living they now have, even if they still wish to live a "communal" lifestyle.
