  1. Well, proto-socialism did start in England with the enclosure of the commons, and More's book, which is fiction, titled: Utopia. This had been building up all around Europe before Rousseau wrote what he did. Proto-socialism was a product of the radical religious sects over the radical reformation, which affected those like Kant and Rousseau who jumped off the cliff with it. Thomas Paine eventually did the same thing.
