In reality, the entire idea of a grand jury, where only the state can make a case to the jury, and in private, is corrupt to its core. It's one of the bad things that we inherited from Britain when this nation was founded. It would be much better if another attorney was in the room to argue, who was not associated with either side, to play devil's advocate, which would keep the prosecution in check. We wouldn't have these sorts of problems if this was the case.
