  2. Vican: The US needed the UN, when we started it in 1945, to try to control the radical countries in Europe and elsewhere, by using sanctions in place of war. It bound all participating countries under an international law. The problem, was that the UN was never much good at doing anything, except costing the participating controlling countries a lot of money, as we still had war, where Europe dragged the US into them by agreement. We should have dropped the UN twenty years later, when Vietnam came about, due to France. Lyndon Johnson, a socialist, loved the UN, and he escalated Vietnam into a full war. The countries in Western Europe, asked the US to go into West Asia for the gas and oil, and of course, there were US oil interest there too. That is why we're in Syria, now, because Assad denied Europe a pipe line running from Qatar to Turkey. The US had became Europe and the UK's big bully on the block, and the US citizens don't care much for doing it any more. Europe, since WWII, had started using the US as it's army in the Middle-East. Starting in Iran, they toppled an elected leader, who was in bed with Russia, via the CIA, and replaced him with the Shah. That deal was cooked up by the UK with the US. The same countries were behind pitting Iraq against Iran, and asking the US for help in Kuwait. Next, we had Afghanistan, then Iraq, Libya, and finally Syria. It's about oil and natural gas. Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Pakistan are involved with the Europeans too. It was all about who controlled that land; those friendly to Europe and the US, or Russia. Russia pulls the strings in Syria, Lebanon, and Iran. They used to in Iraq, and probably still do with many in Afghanistan. Russia has been trying to control the governments in the Middle-East, and thus, the natural resources, since WWII, and Europe, along with the UK, don't have the oil and gas they need.
