Below is the law which covers the above, and defines what a domestic terrorist is.
18 U.S. Code § 2331 - Definitions
(5) the term “domestic terrorism” means activities that—
(A) involve acts dangerous to human life that are a violation of the criminal laws of the United States or of any State;
(B) appear to be intended—
(i) to intimidate or coerce a civilian population;
(ii) to influence the policy of a government by intimidation or coercion
If you notice, they only have to appear to be intending to coerce a civilian population. Coercion can be from a teacher or professor to their students (students are members of the civilian population), where they were coerced to protest or riot. There is also the hate crime law in the US below.
18 U.S. Code § 249 - Hate crime acts
(1) Offenses involving actual or perceived race, color, religion, or national origin.—Whoever, whether or not acting under color of law, willfully causes bodily injury to any person or, through the use of fire, a firearm, a dangerous weapon, or an explosive or incendiary device, attempts to cause bodily injury to any person, because of the actual or perceived race, color, religion, or national origin of any person.
Hate crime definition: "A criminal act motivated by another person's (usually the victim's) race, color, religion, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, or disability. Also called a bias crime. Can be a crime committed against a person, property, or society."
Thus, a if teacher or professor teaches bigotry to their students toward those of religion (Christians who they're labeling as bigots, racists, etc), and a student or protester causes bodily harm to one of religion, then the teacher or professor is an accessory to the crime due to coercing them to protest. They may even be guilty over their nationalist claims, by teaching them that nationalism in the US is something bad, then coercing them to protest, since this may fall under national origin (protesting over those who declare themselves a national US citizen, and causing harm to them over it).
