  1. You left out the M1895 Potato Digger, Browning's incarnation, which would have been the first gas-operated version that served in WWI. He started by adopting his lever-action rifles with a gas flapper at the muzzle. The gun first appeared in the Spanish-American War.

  2.  @FORGOTTENHISTORYCHANNEL  You're welcome. BTW, not many know about Gatling's motorized version. It took our military many long years to finally adopt the idea.

  3. It's been ongoing since the invention of the siege engine or trebuchet. Some of the designs shown, can also be traced back to da Vinci in 1481, such as the multi-barreled “organ” beasts.
