@ziggyc3004 I'm just about to turn 59, and when I was in school, you were just about guaranteed a job after graduating from high school. However, by 1983, when I graduated, free trade had started ruining the economy, and jobs were becoming scarce. That was when major industries, such as electronics, started offshoring to the East, foreign steel was imported, and imported automobiles became the norm. It's been a downhill slide ever since, as I've watched several local industries close their doors, which used to employ hundreds at each place.
These young millennials have no idea about how good the population had it during the seventies and before.
