  1. After 1948, Israel has been surrounded by states that have been very cozy with, and have similar politics to, the old Soviet Union, today's Russian Federation, and several Asian nations. One only has to look at which nations recognize Palestine, today, and which ones don't. They are the nations that fan the conflict over the natural resources in the Middle East. The history of the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, Amin al-Husseini, and Yasser Arafat, explains much.
