  1. I remember, here, in the US, when party lines existed for the phone over not enough line circuits, and the numbers were listed as Skyline-####, where Sky gave the first three numbers. I have a pre-stamped postcard here, which was sent out to a lady that won a week's vacation in Florida. That was how people were notified back in the seventies and before.
