  1. Why do people continually blame the J### for this, when, in fact, what became socialism was a Protestant Christian invention? Much of it started in Britain, long ago, when the commons were enclosed, and the protests started. From that, and what was occurring on the mainland with Luther, arose the radical and communal sects of Protestantism: the Anabaptists, Unitarians, Quakers, Shakers, and Brownists, etc. (Puritans). Also, from them came the Levellers and Diggers, and the rest is history, as this was where Robert Owen obtained his utopian ideas, and he was where Engels obtained his. That also spread to France, where Saint-Simon obtained many of his beliefs. The word, utopian, came into popular use after Thomas More penned a book of the same title. Those within the Pale of Settlement obtained many of their ideas from these same groups as well.
