What was tested just outside Vegas dumped fallout all across the US, and due to the weather patterns over how it follows the Mississippi and Ohio Rivers, the Ohio River valley actually received a good bit of it, all the way to Pittsburgh, and farther east close to DC. There were towns that received the worst of it, though, and they were in Utah. "Dubbed 'downwinders,' more than 60,000 people were exposed to radioactive fallout in southern Utah during nuclear testing at the Nevada Test Site from 1951-58 and July of 1962." Needless to say, cancer rates soared there.
