You're correct about the Caribbeans, or at least some of them, and this has been mentioned since the 1950s, at least, in literature. Ian Fleming mentioned it within the characters that he wrote about in the Caribbean, and he would know, as he lived in Jamaica part time. The Man With the Golden Gun contains a good example about the train engineer toward the end. The book also contains some choice words that they used for Caucasians.
What his works showed, was that some within this community were, or are, racist toward white people, and have been since that time.
