  1. It's pandering to what are known as “self-righteous narcissists” in the psych community. This mental malady derives from a root cause called “pathological envy.” This branch of narcissism seems to make up the left wing today. When they're confronted, they resort to what is known as DARVO, (an acronym for “deny, attack, and reverse victim and offender”), which is a reaction that perpetrators of wrongdoing, such as narcissists, display in response to being held accountable for their behavior. They first deny what they've done, then begin to attack the people pointing out their misdeeds. When that doesn't work, they make themselves look the victim, and make the real victim seem the perp.
