There's nothing wrong with a kibbutz, if people want to live that way. However, besides a few other agrarian religious sects (Amish, Mennonite, etc), they seem to always fail, going back to the days of Robert Owen and Owenism. Owen's son wrote about what occurred, and how the worst dregs of society showed up to live there; looking for others to keep them up. I'll bet many in the US do not know about Robert Owen.
The main problem is, that a few with this ideology, especially the anarchists, always wish to force that lifestyle on society as a whole, and they're generally violent, and of a criminal element. Though some were zealots, and even wished to bring about the end of the world, for their utopian golden age to reappear. The thing is, there was never a utopian golden age that existed, and there have always been those who wanted to rule over others, starting with the earliest tribal leaders with the hunter-gatherers.
Anarchists have always been the root of the problem behind utopianism, and one could honestly make the claim, by their profiles, that they are or were, either violent psychopaths or sociopaths.
One can see this in the history of Brooklyn, and how some from this ideology ended up becoming organized criminals after the late 1800s. It was the same people that murdered Nicholas II, and McKinley. I've even witnessed them claiming to be religious, when there's not a religious bone in them, and they do not intend on living in a one-room farm house. In other words, they don't practice what they preach.
