What is going on today, as far as immigration, is coming from the G7 and the UN, where they point at the US as a model. They think the immigrants will assimilate and that this will stop all wars. This thought comes from intellectuals, who the national governments follow, but they never question those intellectual's motives, nor if it's true. The US is still ghettoized, there's still conflict, and there's still huge differences between the cultures.
