  1. Most of the claptrap about sameness came from psychology and social science, which shouldn't surprise anyone. Since Freud, it's been a downhill slide, where he thought everyone had mother issues. Dr. Spock was another, and I'd bet anyone could guess his real beliefs.

  2. You can trace this back to Dr. Spock, and his views on rearing children. He was very popular in the sixties, and that led to children being coddled. With each subsequent generation, that coddling became worse.
