  1. Digitalization is why it became so easy for the Chinese to steal secrets via hacking. Corporations and governments were warned, in the early days of the internet, that changing over to computer design and digital files could lead to this, if their server was connected to the internet. They didn't listen, so we have what we have. Even if the server is not connected, all it takes is an employee on the take, and today, a thumb drive, and they can walk out with several gigs of classified files. That was how Snowden did it, who's in the pockets of Russia and China. Back when I owned my fabrication business, (stopped in 2000), where I designed special equipment for the rail industry, I still did everything on the board, and used flat files to store the blue line prints and vellum. The only thing done on a PC were engineering calculations, which were then printed off, and placed into a paper file. I left nothing on the PC. I even kept the employee's pay records in a paper ledger. The days of breaking into an office, opening paper files, and photographing them with a Minox camera are long gone. We opened the door wide open to espionage with computers and digital files.
