What's known as the right wing in one nation, is not the same as right wing in another. In Germany, they've always been controlled by left-wing groups springing from socialism. In the US, that's not the case.
The right wing, in the US, is the old, Tory-friendly, Federalist and National Republican Parties, which dissolved into the Whig, and then changed back into the Republican Party during Lincoln. To be honest, it reminds me of the Old Guard of WWII and the thirties, who were anti-war. Goldwater came out of that, and it had no ties to any German, nor socialist, parties. No, they prosecuted them.
