Social and other large spending programs are this way around the world. It's basic economics, which many politicians are either purposely ignorant of, or they are uneducated about, (the money grows on trees lot). Once spending blows past the revenue, where taxes are raised so much that nobody can afford them, we still have nations that keep borrowing, and going deeper into debt. Worse, the same nations export jobs to low wage and low regulation nations, which stops income tax revenue coming in. Worse, they bring in more people. The same nations that always do this, keep getting larger, more authoritarian, and regulating more. Finally, there comes a time when that nation's credit rating is dropped, the money is cut off by the banks, and payment is demanded.

How many times, through history, has this happened between governments and banks? How many times has it led to war and genocide, with the bankers being targeted by these governments? Friday the 13th received its bad reputation over this very thing.
