Look into the story of Robert F. Williams. He was responsible for leading the NAACP away from peaceful protests, to violent ones. When the FBI went after him, he fled, in 1961, to Cuba, of course, where Castro set him up at a radio station, to broadcast propaganda into the US. It is thought that he had been directed by Caribbean dissidents, beforehand, to push for the violence, and rebel.
Later, Williams left for Hanoi in 1965, where he stayed for awhile, then moved to China, where he was accepted, and interacted with the "higher functionaries of the Chinese government," under Mao. Mao actually met Williams, and gave him a copy of the Red Book.
Williams was who Huey Newton, the Black Panther Party founder, and the African American Defense League founder, Mauricelm-Lei Millere, cited as a major inspiration. This led to the creation of the BLA, and today's BLM.
