After WWI, several nations at the League demanded decolonization. It happened, and in the nations that it had been in, their economies took a nosedive. That is why, in my opinion, they have their hands out today.

@englishciderlover7347 Yes, and many of those nations sided with the wrong political ideology after Britain left, and that is part of the problem, since that ideology does not lend itself to countries becoming a wealthy nation. South Africa is a prime example. For the Americas, Venezuela, along with several other South American nations, are other examples of what happened when the US washed its hands over their selected politics.
