  1. The way you describe back then was the way I remember it in the US, and still do where I like now, somewhat, since I've lived in this house for 38 years. I know my neighbors and have good friends here. I've seen several children grow up as well. However, I'm now elderly, and several of my neighbors have passed on. Three houses have been bought by the same landlord, and I fear who'll move in one day.
