  1. Many of them were either affected by socialism, had civil wars or riots over it, and ended up with dictatorial governments after Britain left. Go back and look at what happened in Jamaica after Castro stuck his large nose into their politics. In Africa, it was the same way in many nations. None have been the same since.

  5. Let me add to this, and state that they did, eventually, start having hop-pickers of color. The farms began hiring out of hostels after the sixties for cheap labor.
