The old tale that banking belongs to one religious group is bunk as well. Banking is old, going back to the ancient wheat banks, but there were no laws on lending for years, which is what gave a certain group a bad name over high interest rates after coins came out with Croesus. However, the RCC, later, became involved in lending, gave low rates, and opened their own banks. Their banks still charged interest, while preaching against it, because they couldn't operate if they didn't! The RCC has been at it ever since, especially with the Templars and later.
Simon, you should tell them about the Temple Church in London, and what it was used for.
