  1. It wasn't just D-Day where Britain helped, as before that Britain dropped many SOE operatives behind enemy lines to disrupt the Germans. The Brits were working with the French Underground, and that paved the way for D-Day. While that was taking place, Britain helped set up the OSS, and sent William E. Fairbairn to the US to train the recruits in Defendu. That had to be done before any US operatives made it to the field.
