Nobody distrusted the UN that much until 1992, and that was over the Earth Summit held at Rio, leading to the Rio+20, which is what led us to their two agendas, today, where 100+ nations signed up for them. GHW Bush, a neoconservative, led the charge for that, but most of it had been preplanned between the Nixon and Bush administrations. Coincidentally, during Nixon was when, what became, the G7 was created at the White House, which was Bush's NWO that he spoke about, and they were the leaders of the new world economic order, (new international economic order), and later, the Washington Consensus, which is collapsing. Russia was allowed into the G7 for a while, when it was known as the G7+1. The G7 was put together over oil and gas, as well as dealing with OPEC.

"Virtually no part of the New International Economic Order was implemented. Instead, from the 1980s onward, the Bretton Woods framework would be replaced with the Washington Consensus and economic globalization on terms often described as neoliberal."

Also, according to the UN:
"The New International Economic Order (NIEO) was a set of proposals put forward during the 1970s by some developing countries through the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development to promote their interests by improving their terms of trade, increasing development assistance, developed-country tariff reductions, and other means. It was meant to be a revision of the international economic system in favour of Third World countries, replacing the Bretton Woods system, which had benefited the leading states that had created it – especially the United States."
The UN was used as a bully pulpit by the G7, to push for war in the name of fighting communism and ter###ism, and installing democracies, which was still the Eisenhower policy. At the time, the policy was supposedly about removing Russia and China's influence under a policy of "containment," which eventually required war to bring it about in the Middle-East (keeping Russia out). However, obtaining natural resources was the G7's major hidden goal, and much of that was due to the oil and gas deposits located in Africa to Vietnam, as well as OPEC's control. It's why the NIEO was ignored. Since large corporations lobby and control politicians, we have what we have, to the point of demanding open borders, the destruction of the nation state, etc.
After the Gulf Wars, the preceding "wars" were done by proxy, using things such as color revolutions for plausible deniability to skirt any agreements. Several retired C#A case officers have openly bragged about this, and have written several books on the subject.
Now, this neoliberal and neoconservative globalist group, as well as China's influence of the UN, is out in the open where the public has noticed it. I would say that the internet has helped that revelation along.
