It's really about what they think they can receive, for free, from the state. They really don't care about their ancestors, nor about what is still occurring in Africa. In the US, Lyndon Johnson created this mess called dependence on the state, and now they've found a new way to ask for more.

It's not a mental block; they're knowingly lying. Evidently, they think that the public is ignorant of history, but then, again, it's the uneducated young that they wish to feed this fake history to.
