  1. It's the same propaganda that they've pushed about Appalachia and the south since the early fifties. The north and west have always tried to make the states south of the Mason Dixon Line look to be backward and poor. They made TV shows such as The Beverly Hillbillies to push that narrative. What they don't know is that the South will rise again, and the people in "the north" will not like the results.
