A true pain clinic does not just write prescriptions with hardly any examination. Those are pill mills. True pain clinics, such as those run by a hospital, etc, do extensive testing, and the patient has to take injection and physical therapy to try to get better, where they may be eventually weaned off the medication. Some are in too bad of a shape, and are on long term medication, but real pain clinics are very stringent about what they do, how they screen the patients, and how they practice.
Crooked pharmacies will fill prescriptions from doctor shoppers, (multiple prescriptions per month for the same person), and it sounds like they are finally going after some of them. Large chain pharmacies like CVS, etc, do not allow this, or at least, here.
West Virginia has a big problem with drugs coming in from Detroit, especially into Huntington and Charleston. There are out of town drug traffickers being arrested, it seems, every day in their news. This is where the Heroin and some of the pills are coming from.
