  1. You can not fool a physiatrist about pain, claiming that you have something wrong with you when you don't. A true pain physician uses your past history, plus their own tests, CT scans, MRIs, etc, to see if you have anything actually wrong. When people are obtaining drug prescriptions, with nothing wrong with them, then that physician is running a pill mill. A true pain clinic, generally ran by a hospital, is completely different than the pill mills that pop up. There is extensive testing, rehab, therapy, injections, etc in the real clinics, along with pain treatment.
