They claim that there was a reversal in the parties under Nixon, but they're incorrect; it happened much earlier, starting in 1910. Nixon was merely the first Neocon president, and he was a Quaker, where early proto-socialism formed.
The truth is, the GOP, starting under Lincoln, was partial to the new socialist doctrine that was actually being preached in some Protestant churches, which was later known as Christian Socialism, and the "social gospel." That was the Whigs' belief under Clay and Greeley. Greeley even hired Karl Marx as his sole British correspondent, and published Marx's screeds in his New York newspaper. That was the real driving force behind the "Radical Republicans."
During Reconstruction, they changed the D Party in the south to be just like them, and that resulted in the Bourbon Democrats, which Wilson was from. They were all tied to big business, especially the railroads.
When the radical leftists had McKinley killed, Roosevelt came in, who was from this radical strain, and he brought in Progressivism. Wilson was also a Progressive, which is really Socialism. That was why Roosevelt formed the Bull Moose Party, so Wilson could win. From there, the D Party sided more and more with the radical left.
However, the GOP tried to do an about-face, starting in 1910, where they booted the Progressives out between 1910-12, and tried to revert the party back to the original ideas of Thomas Jefferson. This faction became known as the Old Right, and they were anti-war, pro liberty, and they were protectionists. This was what 45 tried to revive, and what the Neocons hated.
In 1952, the New York Intellectuals, who had left the D Party over their hatred for Stalin, because they were Trotskyites, infiltrated the GOP, and created the Neocons. The D Party had sided with Stalin, and FDR really cosied up to the USSR, where they went farther to the left.
The GOP has been split since 1952, with the Neocons pulling the strings since that time, which is what 45 did his best to remove, and clean out. I think everybody is now wise to the Socialists, and it's time to take our nation back.
