What they allowed was a handful of people to become extremely wealthy, who used that power to control the government. Worse, after 1900, many of those were vile little ladder-climbing, greedy, and immoral Trotskyites, who would do anything for a dollar.
The Medici family motto puts it best: "Money to get power. Power to protect money."
Abraham Lincoln said it best, and I'll paraphrase about money, that "money does no good if it doesn't circulate within the public." The entire public only holds about 3% of the money. The problem has always been the small handful of wealthy elite that sucked the other money up out of the economy, and never invested it back into the public domain, which forces the government to borrow more, as that small number of elite continues to become richer. 97% of the available cash is sitting within nontaxable institutes, foundations, and trust funds, or in secrecy jurisdiction accounts, which are owned by that same small number.
I read a leaked investigative government report from Belgium, (exposed in Germany's news), which stated that these very people, who were most all tied to crime, and as of 1996, controlled 50% of the world economy.
Remember the Panama and Paradise Papers? Where did those investigations go?
