buddyjoey: Actually, it does involve Mueller's investigation, as the FBI used the fake Steele dossier to target Carter Page, who had volunteered to work on the GOP campaign. That gave them the inroad to investigate the entire transition team for "Russian collusion," via an order by the DOJ, because Page had worked for US finance interests in Russia, and was known to be sympathetic to the Russians. The FBI used a Yahoo news article, sourced to Steele, to back up Steele's own dossier. They also targeted Papadopolus, a relatively unknown, who was in London. He was targeted over something stated "in a barroom," and that was set forth by Strozk. Papadopolus and Page were not cooperating or working with each other, according to the memo, and Papadopolus, a charlatan, somehow, situated himself inside the campaign, and nobody really knew who he was. The professor that Papadopolus spoke to, claimed that he said none of the such about Russians, and that he supported Hillary Clinton. Steele had also named Trump's attorney, claiming that he had been to Prague, when he had not, and he proved it.
Rosenstein allowed Mueller to go where any lead led him, based on info collected in those warrants, in his order. Thus, it wasn't limited to a Russian investigation, as it was open ended. Page led to the others, because of the order. Congress ordered the investigation, based upon the dossier.
During their investigation, they found out about Flynn speaking to the Russian ambassador, or any other dignitary, but that was during the transition, after the election, and it was legal for him to do so, as all incoming presidential staff do it. What he did, was to lie to Pence and the FBI about speaking to the ambassador.
They also called in Donald Jr., over him speaking with the female Russian attorney, who lied about having info on Hillary Clinton. She tried to hand him documents about "Russian adoptions," which he was smart enough to refuse. Donald Jr, readily admitted to what happened, and he was questioned about it.
The Steele dossier led to all of that, as they used Page as the excuse to investigate the entire transition team, due to Rosenstein's order to Mueller. Trump agreed with it, and stated that if the Russian's were involved, then he wanted to know.
Last, several people mentioned in the memo are now suing Steele, over what he wrote, for libel, in the British courts. It is also coming out, that Steele may have gotten most of what he wrote from a hatchet man employed by the Clintons, their "plumber," which a few journalists have been talking about, along with Dick Morris, who used to work for the Clintons. This guy had written a similar paper, and he is a very uncredible source. He is who the Clinton's used against the women that Bill messed with, including Lewinski.
That is why many attorneys are calling it the fruit of the poisonous tree, as the entire investigation, asked for by congress, and the warrants used to investigate it, was triggered by the Steele dossier. The memo only proved what was already public knowledge, except for pointing out the leakers within the FBI, and verifying their ties to the Clinton campaign and the DNC.
