Nightmare Kurumi: Yes, they are, and that is the ideology behind Communism. You see, in the Democrats and the Communists view, everyone is equal, no matter what, and they deserve the same pay, unless you run the government. Their ideology is nothing but feudalism rebranded, and that is what the plantation ideology was all about. The plantation owners were the landed gentry, and the aristocrats run the government. Everyone else becomes the serfs; the unlanded, who works for the landed.

Sune Nymann: You're completely off, from the way the US works. People in the US do own land, though the real property is taxed by the county. A natural person can even obtain a land patent, if applied for, but it will still be subject to a tax, due the property appurtenant to it.
Not all business is corporate, as many small businesses are either sole proprietorships, or are limited liability companies (partnerships). One must have a board, and issue stock, to become a corporation, either public or private. The majority of small business, from small stores, shops, and farms, are sole proprietorships, owned by one person, with no corporation to protect them.
In socialism, you own no land, and the majority of the corporations are nationalized. Communism was the worst, then the National Socialists second, and the Fascists third; all left-wing socialism. The Democratic party wants to use the same methods and ideology of all three.
